Joining Woodstock CAN
Joining Woodstock CAN means choosing an ongoing relationship with a local group that takes action seriously.
Members stay informed, get involved more easily, and help shape what we focus on next. Some roles and resources are reserved for verified members so we can protect people’s privacy, move responsibly, and build trust.
You do not need to be an expert.
You do not need to agree on everything.
You do need to be willing to participate in good faith and look out for the people doing the work.
How Joining Works

Step 2 — Attend a New Member Orientation
New Member Orientation sessions are held monthly and are open to anyone considering deeper involvement. At orientation, we:
-
Explain how Woodstock CAN works
-
Cover safety, privacy, and expectations
-
Share the different ways people participate
-
Answer questions
There is no pressure to commit to anything during or after the session.

What Verification Means
Public events and many actions are open to everyone. Verification is used when we need to:
-
Coordinate sensitive actions
-
Share non-public information
-
Protect members from harassment or doxxing
-
Build a network we can rely on when it matters
Verification does not mean blind agreement, party loyalty, or constant availability. Details are explained during orientation.

Ways People Get Involved
People participate in different ways depending on time, energy, and comfort level. All of these matter.
-
Attending public events
-
Taking action from home
-
Helping host or support events
-
Donating to sustain the work
-
Becoming a paid member
-
Supporting organizing or coordination behind the scenes
You choose what makes sense for you. That can change over time. Paid membership is optional and never required to participate.
