Joining Woodstock CAN
Joining Woodstock CAN means choosing an ongoing relationship with a local group that takes action seriously.

When you join, you create a site account so we can stay in touch, share updates, and invite you into deeper participation if and when you want it. Nothing you do here is public-facing. Your profile may be visible to vetted Woodstock CAN members through our internal member directory.

Some roles, coordination, and internal spaces are reserved for verified members so we can protect people’s privacy, move responsibly, and build trust.

You do not need to be an expert.
You do not need to agree on everything.
You do need to participate in good faith and look out for the people doing the work.
How Joining Works
Joining happens in two simple steps.

Step 1 — Join the site

Create a website account so we can stay in touch and share updates. This gives you access to:
-
Emails and announcements
-
Public resources
-
Invitations to New Member Orientation sessions
When you join, a member profile is created automatically. This profile is internal only and is not visible to the public. It may be visible to vetted Woodstock CAN members through our private member directory.

You control what information you share and what name appears in the directory. You can update your profile at any time.

Step 2 — Complete the Community Intake Form (recommended)

Completing the Community Intake Form is how you become a verified member.

Verification allows access to certain internal spaces, higher-trust coordination, and non-public information. It exists for community safety and to allow people to participate at different levels based on their circumstances.

Not every person’s verification process looks the same.

Step 3 — Attend a New Member Orientation (recommended, not required)

New Member Orientation is not mandatory, but it is strongly recommended for anyone considering deeper involvement.

Orientations are held monthly and cover:
-
How Woodstock CAN works
-
Safety, privacy, and expectations
-
Different ways people participate
-
Live Q&A with other new members
There is no pressure to commit to anything during or after orientation.

Ways People Get Involved

People participate in different ways depending on time, energy, and comfort level. All of these matter.

-
Attending public events
-
Taking action from home
-
Helping host or support events
-
Donating to sustain the work
-
Becoming a paid member
-
Supporting organizing or coordination behind the scenes
You choose what makes sense for you. That can change over time.

Joining does not automatically commit you to actions, leadership, public visibility, or paid membership.

Paid membership is optional and never required to participate.
