Service Saturday with WFPeaches features an invasive plant removal project in partnership with Riverwalk Atlanta.
About Riverwalk
Riverwalk is a community-created park along the Chattahoochee, gradually restored by environmentalists and neighbors. Removing invasive plants is critical for restoring native habitats, supporting biodiversity, and protecting ecosystems.
What to Expect
Tasks include cutting or pulling invasive plants such as privet and wisteria, with roles ranging from heavy work to lighter cleanup.
Meet at 8:30 a.m. near the parking area for coffee and donuts. Instructions begin around 9 a.m., followed by group work.
A tour of the park will be offered mid-morning, and lunch/picnic wraps up the day around noon.
What to Bring/Wear
Long sleeves, pants, boots or sturdy shoes
Water, gloves, and sunscreen
Optional: bug spray, folding saw, coffee thermos, camp chair/picnic blanket
Facilities: No bathrooms on site; nearest Chevron station is one mile south on James Jackson Parkway.
Food: Coffee and donuts provided in the morning; lunch likely available at the end.
